GREETINGS FROM THE MONTI!

The Monti is proud to announce our next event on September 23rd at Golden Belt in Durham.  This storytelling event will be a part of a special art exhibition series at Golden Belt – Jacob Lawrence’s Migration of the Negro .  This epic series of 60 paintings was finished in 1941 and chronicles the great migration of African Americans from the rural South to the urban North between the two world wars.  During this month long art exhibit, there will be several featured events, and The Monti is proud to be among them.  Certain to be a special evening as two genres of storytelling - visual and oral - come together in this unique venue.
Doors open at 6:30pm; stories begin at 7:30pm.  Tickets are $10 and are available starting at noon on Thursday, September 11, 2008.  Advanced tickets can be purchased by clicking the TICKETS tab above.  Our last show in the Triangle SOLD OUT in one day, so buying tickets in advance is strongly recommended.
Beer and wine will be available at the show (cash bar only).  There will be no food available at this event.

Theme - Journeys
The vision for The Monti this month is to align the stories with the underlying theme of Jacob Lawrence’s exhibit.  Migration is the theme of the series, and the six storytellers this evening will tell tales of their own ‘Journeys’ through life – whether it involves physical travels or that of the inner spiritual kind.  Don’t miss as our storytellers dig deep to amuse, enlighten, and impact us with stories that shaped their lives.
